Describing birds in the wild: this was the job of ornithologists in the early 19th century. In substantial works of natural history, they compiled numerous descriptions of animals from all over the world, which were then inaccessible to a large part of the population. Today, these valuable bodies of knowledge are preserved in the world's largest archives, the very archives that the Oneart teams enjoy exploring to unearth true iconographic treasures.
To create our collection of bird posters, we were able to consult a famous work, the fabulous Histoire naturelle des perroquets (Natural History of Parrots) published in 1805. This work, consisting of several volumes, was written by François Levaillant and lavishly illustrated byJacques Barraband, a painter and illustrator who created hundreds of watercolors depicting flowers and birds. In the Natural History of Parrots, one can admire nearly 150 plates drawn from life and carefully colored in both deep and nuanced shades. The myriad of details and colors in the work have made it the richest natural history collection ever cataloged.

To bring these incredible ornithology plates back to life, Oneart Studio used digital restoration techniques. We selected and restored several plates depicting colorful birds, including the famous macaws, the impressive toucan, as well as delicate parakeets and majestic whistlers.
Each of our bird posters is handcrafted and printed in France on 220g cream-colored textured paper, which preserves all the splendor of the original artwork. For each bird, you will find its scientific name in italics, along with the plate number.
Our bird posters are available in standard framing sizes: 30x40cm, 50x70cm and 60x80cm. Choose your dimensions and select your favorite bird for large-format posters, or create a beautiful ensemble by opting for several smaller posters. The vibrant colors of each bird will allow you to imagine a unique exotic decor!
The Oneart teams produce each poster based on your orders, thus limiting overproduction and responding as closely as possible to your needs. Each of your orders leaves our workshops within a few days for delivery to your home or to a relay point.
