Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is one of the most important literary figures of the last century. A trained aviator following his military service, he was hired by the future Aéropostale company to transport mail from France to Senegal and, at the same time, began writing novels that would leave a lasting mark on French literature. His name has been associated for many years with his major works, such as *Night Flight*, *Terre des hommes*, and above all, *The Little Prince*. The latter, illustrated with his own watercolors, was written in New York in a very particular context.
During World War II, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry left France to settle in the United States, specifically in New York, from where he actively participated in the Resistance. Isolated in this distant city, where his wife could not join him, he wrote *The Little Prince*, which was published after his death in 1944. This children's story deals with philosophical themes such as solitude, friendship, love, travel, settled life, space, and time. Having sold millions of copies and been translated into nearly 600 languages and dialects, it is the most translated book in the world after the Bible. The authentic watercolors, created by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry himself, were initially only visible in American editions and finally arrived in France thanks to the publishing house Gallimard in 1999.
