About the artist
Clotilde Jiménez (born 1990 in Honolulu, USA, lives and works in Mexico City, Mexico) exploits colorful collage materials which, through the reuse of ordinary elements such as wallpaper, names of popular clothing brands, magazine clippings and Mexican craft papers refer to Western culture. It draws on references from ancient, modern and contemporary art to explore the limits placed on the body from the perspectives of race, gender and sexuality.
Clotilde Jiménez's works are included in important collections such as the Ford Foundation (New York, EU), the Orlando Museum of art (Orlando, EU), the Hessel Museum of Art (Annandale-On-Hudson, EU), and the Beth Rudin DeWoody Collection.
