Babar and Celeste are playing doubles tennis against Mr. and Mrs. Pilophage. This illustration is from one of the first Babar adventure books, " King Babar ," published in 1933. The famous character was conceived by Cécile de Brunhoff when she told stories to her children at night, and later her husband Jean brought the little elephant to life by illustrating the very first Babar adventure book for their children.
