Babar is at the old lady's house and is telling her about his life in the big forest. This is a reproduction of one of the illustrations from the very first Babar book, " The Story of Babar the Little Elephant ," published in 1931. The famous character was conceived by Cécile de Brunhoff when she told stories to her children at night, and later her husband Jean brought the little elephant to life by illustrating the very first Babar book for their children.
