Roland-Garros 2008 magnet by Arnulf RAINER

The official 2008 Roland-Garros poster, signed by Austrian painter Arnulf Rainer, is distinguished by its dark atmosphere and expressive power. Rainer used a wooden board into which he carved lines to suggest the structure of a court, before applying intense colors and giving free rein to his imagination to evoke the surface of the clay. The result, akin to a lava flow, gives the work a volcanic and metaphorical dimension, far removed from a simple representation of a tennis court. This abstract texture and austere palette make the 2008 poster one of the most enigmatic and profound in the Roland-Garros collection, inviting the viewer to reflect on the power of nature and artistic transformation.
