Roland-Garros 1995 magnet by Donald LIPSKI

Sale price€9,00

The official 1995 Roland-Garros poster, signed by American artist and sculptor Donald Lipski, marks a turning point in the tournament's art collection by featuring a sculptor for the first time. Lipski, known for his penchant for transformation and assemblage, chose two tennis rackets from the 1930s, which he assembled and strung in an improbable way to symbolize the duel. Influenced by French sensibility, he reversed the initial presentation to reveal a heart, thus transforming the poster into a declaration of love for tennis and Roland-Garros. This work, at once inventive and poetic, combines the tradition of the sport with the audacity of contemporary art, while celebrating the passion and spirit of the Parisian tournament.
