Roland-Garros 2015 magnet by Du ZHENJUN

The official 2015 Roland-Garros poster, created by Du Zhenjun, marks a historic first: never before had a Chinese artist been chosen to illustrate the tournament. Drawing inspiration from both his Asian roots and Western contemporary art, Du Zhenjun places the game at the heart of his creation by depicting a player serving. The movement, of great purity, is so powerful that the ball seems to pierce the poster, embodying the speed and intensity of tennis on clay. The main element of the composition, a dynamic line in the center, belongs to Zen aesthetics and lends the work a poetic and meditative dimension. Created on rice paper with India ink, then mounted on canvas, this poster is a true bridge between two artistic cultures.
