Roland-Garros 2018 magnet by Fabienne VERDIER
The official 2018 Roland-Garros poster, created by French artist Fabienne Verdier, celebrates the magic of a tennis ball bouncing on clay. Verdier captures that moment of truth when, after impact, the ball can take an extremely wide variety of trajectories. These unexpected bounces release incredible energy, translated through painterly gestures imbued with vitality, power, precision, and sliding movement. With every rally, the balls become filled with ochre dust and, like comets, trace lines of magical energy across the court. This dynamic, abstract work pays tribute to the beauty of movement and the intensity of the Parisian tournament, while capturing the very essence of clay-court tennis.
