1986 Roland-Garros magnet by Jiri KOLAR

The official 1986 Roland-Garros poster, signed by Czech artist Jiri Kolar, stands out for its innovative collage technique, making this work a true piece of contemporary art. Kolar assembles fragments of pages containing the results from the entire history of tennis, combined with an imaginary geographical map, to create a one-of-a-kind mosaic. This composition evokes a tennis without borders, where creation and imagination have no limits. By tearing and fragmenting history, Jiri Kolar invites us to discover his unique universe, where sport becomes a universal and timeless language. The 1986 poster thus embodies the meeting of tradition, memory, and artistic freedom, while paying tribute to the open and creative spirit of Roland-Garros.
