Roland-Garros 2007 magnet by Kate SHEPHERD

The official 2007 Roland-Garros poster, created by American artist Kate Shepherd, is distinguished by its minimalist and contemporary style. The second woman to sign a poster for the tournament after Jane Hammond, Shepherd first assembles wooden panels, then covers them with an industrial lacquer paint chosen from a range of four different reds. She explains: "They are not the color of the clay court; they are less natural, more artificial, more joyful." Finally, the artist draws large white lines in perspective freehand, like a runway overlooking the court—an unconscious nod to the aviator Roland Garros. This refined composition, where color and geometry engage in dialogue, offers a modern and dynamic vision of the tournament while paying tribute to the spirit of innovation and the history of the Parisian stadium.
