Roland-Garros 2009 magnet by Konrad KLAPHECK
The official 2009 Roland-Garros poster, created by Konrad Klapheck, marks a return to surrealist figurative art to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the collection. True to his style, the German artist pays particular attention to the depiction of objects and low-angle scenes, giving the work a unique perspective. The poster's composition brings together the crowd, the scoreboard, the player on the court, and the net in a scene that is both strange and realistic. Klapheck recreates a legendary 1928 match between Henri Cochet and René Lacoste, the latter being perfectly recognizable in flannel trousers and a period cap. Rich in historical references and details, this poster embodies the timeless spirit and elegance of the Roland-Garros tournament while paying tribute to its great figures.
