2016 Roland-Garros magnet by Marc DESGRANDCHAMPS

The official 2016 Roland-Garros poster, created by French artist Marc Desgrandchamps, celebrates the elegance and aesthetics of tennis through a remarkable figurative composition. The work, painted in gouache, highlights the serve, an iconic tennis gesture, embodied here by endless legs placed in the foreground. Through a clever play of shadow, the artist enhances the movement and captures all the grace of the sport. Inspired by photos of female players from the 60s, Marc Desgrandchamps pays tribute to an era when tennis was, in his words, “perhaps less efficient but more artistic.” This poster perfectly embodies the values of Roland-Garros, combining tradition, refinement, and creativity, and stands out as a strong piece in the tournament's official collection.
