Roland-Garros 2020 magnet by Pierre SEINTURIER
The official 2020 Roland-Garros poster, created by French artist Pierre Seinturier, reveals a rare and intimate facet of the Parisian tournament. The work intensely depicts the preparation of the courts, that specific moment before the players enter which is akin to a curtain raiser in drama. Through a composition rich in detail, bathed in greenery and light, Seinturier invites the viewer to dive behind the scenes of the tournament, where the quiet magic happens before the matches begin. The artist draws inspiration from film stills, photographs, old posters, as well as engraving, lithography, and screen printing techniques, to offer a poster that is at once narrative, cinematic, and filled with nostalgia. This original creation pays tribute to the beauty of the ritual and the unique atmosphere of Roland-Garros.
